A Legend Of Zelda TV series is coming to Netflix and it is being produced by Castlevania producer, Adi Shankar.

If anyone has done videogame adaptions proper, it is producer Adi Shankar, which is evidenced by his involvement and for being one of the developers for Castlevania on Netflix. And now according to The Wrap, at the time of this writing, he is currently in talks to produce a TV series based on the critically-acclaimed videogame series “The Legend of Zelda.”

In fact, news about a live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda for Netflix was made far back as 2015 as reported by MovieWeb. By that time, the show was said to be in the very early stages of development.

In spite of The Legend of Zelda being a popular series created by Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka, there are those who aren’t fans or have just gotten to know the series. So to get those folks up to speed, the story in this game franchise focuses on a boy by the name of Link who rushes to save Princess Zelda as well as her fantasy world known as Hyrule. The Wall Street Journal at the time wrote that the series like Game of Thrones would consist of swords and sorcery, only it would keep away from the edgy, violent and gory nature that the aforementioned TV show is known for.

Nintendo was said to have been collaborating closely with Netflix on the series. It was an interesting development since Nintendo is pretty protective of its properties and has only allowed a select few adaptions including The Legend of Zelda animated series that debuted back in 1989 but only ran for one season.

Shankar delivered an update on his Instagram account on October 29th, 2018 saying:

“I’m working with an iconic Japanese gaming company to adapt one of their iconic video game series into a series.”

Ever since the franchise was released on the Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1986, it has produced more than 17 sequels and various remastered releases which have sold more than 80 million copies worldwide.

In many of the games that have been released in the franchise, Link has had to gather an abundance of magical artifacts to save Zelda from a recurring villain that is the evil wizard Ganon.

But ever since the announcement was made, Shankar has not provided any sort of confirmation or update on the series so far. Instead, We have only received confirmation of his involvement with other potential videogame franchises that are getting their own show like an anime series based on Assassin’s Creed and a Devil May Cry Netflix Original Series.
